Sidewinder
Touring Shell
Project Overview
The Sidewinder is a lightweight backcountry touring shell built for packability, breathability, durability, and weather protection. With a retro ‘90s aesthetic that adds emotional longevity, the shell features a chest pocket that packs the entire jacket and a skins pocket for seamless backcountry transitions.
Research
Only 25% of users wear their shells during the ascent, while 100% wear them on the descent, highlighting the need for excellent packability. Most users carry their shells in their backpacks on the way up.
Ideation

Looking Forward
While still in the prototyping phase, the Sidewinder is being developed with repairability in mind, using traditional seams with generous seam allowances, long-lasting materials, and a repair kit that supports long-term use and self-sufficiency in the mountains.
